G4S Ireland donates EUR8,000 to LauraLynn children’s hospice31 August 2014
The donation is the culmination of several fundraising initiatives by G4S Ireland staff over the past two years and is the latest donation in G4S Ireland’s long-time support of the LauraLynn children’s hospice.
We’ve been a champion of the LauraLynn children’s hospice for over six years now. It’s a charity close to our heart here at G4S Ireland; not only is it just minutes away from our head office, its focus on providing care for children with life-limiting illness and supporting their families is very close to home for all of us at G4S Ireland,” says Cora Killeen, who works closely with the charity throughout the year, along with her colleague Joanna Komuda.
Over the past two years staff at G4S Ireland have organised several events to raise funds for the charity, including: a monthly lunch with a bake sale and raffling off a premium car space at head office to staff members.
But this long-term partnership is about more than just fundraising events, according to Cora. “We try to help LauraLynn in any way that we can by providing them with our expert manned security services for specific events and offering our specialist cash team’s assistance in collecting and delivering money safely for them.”
“We are so grateful to G4S for their continued support of LauraLynn through a variety of initiatives. It means so much to us to have their support and know that we can call on them for help when needed. It is corporate partnerships like this that enable us to pilot our in-home respite care service- LauraLynn@Home - meaning we can support even more families when they need us most in the comfort of their own homes,” says Sarah Meagher, Fundraising Manager at LauraLynn.
And G4S Ireland knows that the funds they have raised for LauraLynn will be put to good use by the charity, which is currently rolling out an in-home respite care service. Over the last year the charity has also introduced Sibling Camps, a full bereavement support programme and an Early Start Group for parents with very sick babies and toddlers.
LauraLynn is a hospice for children with life-limiting conditions and also provides residential care for young adults with disabilities. The hospice does not receive any government funding and relies solely on private donations. “At G4S Ireland, an important part of our work includes supporting our local community and local charities that need our help. Every member of staff is dedicated to the charity and we look forward to the next series of fundraising events we have planned,” says Cora.
