G4S supports hospice
22 July 2010
Ireland’s first children’s hospice is to be supported by G4S
Laura Lynn House is being built by the Children’s Sunshine Home (CSH) charity half a mile from G4S’s Dublin head office, and is due to open in 2011.
The Ireland team is planning a fundraising event every month to help the home, which will care for around 300 children with life-limiting illnesses.
A barbecue was held at Leopardstown Racecourse and a pub quiz and golf tournament with teams from every region in Ireland are planned
Billy Middleton, who heads Ireland’s newly formed Charity Committee, said: “As well as being a local cause we felt it was an extremely worthy one, and we’re delighted to be supporting them.”
Earlier in the year, new MD Niall Feely had a tour of the construction site and presented the CSH with a cheque for €2,000.
Three members of the team raised around €1,500 for CSH by visiting all 26 counties in the Republic of Ireland on motorbikes in less than a day.
Paul Byrne, Andy Stewart and Paul Mellon from the Integrated Services team set out from head office.
Paul Byrne said: “As well as supporting a worthwhile cause it was an experience we enjoyed.”
